There are various names for this earthquake. Seismologists call it the San Fernando earthquake. USGS ‘Sylmar Quake’ or ‘Sylmar earthquake’ is the name initially given to the event by local media outlets, because the worst damage was to the Olive View Medical Center, located in Sylmar. Local veterans of ‘the Sylmar Quake’ commonly refer to this seismic event as the ‘February Ninth’ quake. I wanted to find her for some reason. It was if I knew something was going to happen and I could stay with her, help her. She was gone, and I walked half a block, then saw the clock again. Astrotometry Log April 4th, 2010 approximately 04:04 UTC Earthquake Watch thru April 12th, 2010 Weak solar x-ray emissions and Astrotometry of recent coronal disturbances indicate intense Northern Hemisphere seismic events the coming week. A severe seismic event with several strong aftershocks, is indicated in the northern hemisphere before April 12th 2010. The event may produce severe shaking through a broad latitude from 1 degree north latitude to 25 degrees north latitude plus or minus 10 degrees. The event maybe accompanied by a very strong event 30 additional degrees north plus or minus 10 degrees. The exact location of the events is unknown. Recent activity along the San Andreas fault and at the seams of the Philippine Plate indicates one of those regions as the most likely location. The shape of the coronal disturbances, however, seem to fit the features of the San Andreas fault. Analysis of activity in other coronal features indicates a possible tsunami in the northern reaches of the effected region. The most likely days for the event, are April 4th 5th and 6th. This experimental log is a service of the Cosabio Virtual Institute and is not suitable for emergency response. Emergency managers are encouraged to use all available data, including other earthquake indicators, in consideration of appropriate action. Mexico 7.2 Earthquake shakes LA (April 2010)

A 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit close to the border of Mexico and California on Sunday, which was felt as far as Los Angeles and Tijuana. The quake struck near the Mexican city of Mexicali, located some 20 miles south of the border in the Mexican State of Baja California at 3:40 pm, according to the US Geological Survey. The quake was initially reported to be a 6.9-magnitude earthquake but was changed to 7.2-magnitude. The Survey said that the area was hit by minor 3.0 magnitude earthquakes throughout the past week. San Diego media report that the quake left buildings with shattered windows, broken pipes, cracked floors and other damages. For some residents, power was knocked out due to damages. The San Diego News Network reports that the quake shook the city for nearly one minute. The earthquake could be felt as far as Santa Barbara, Calif., and around 20 million people throughout the Greater Los Angeles and San Diego felt the shock. Earthquake Baja Penninsula 6.9 Later Rated 7.2 Pool Water

Just a quick video with low editing just to get it up. Caught the pool water that was flat and calm go to a wave pool. Lots of creaking and shaking. We evacuated the house just incase. This is the biggest one we have felt since we have lived here the past 4 years. There was a total of 10+ earthquakes today but we only felt 4-5 of them. The biggest one shown in the video during the last bit of shaking. Another 5.1 hit El Centro. You can see on the picture where Yuma is. Thats where Im located. Magnitude 7.2 Earthquake hits Baja California, Mexico - April 4, 2010

MEXICO CITY - A powerful earthquake Monday shook fishing villages along Mexico’s Gulf of California, prompting alarm as far away as Phoenix, but there were no immediate reports of injuries or damage. The US National Earthquake Information Center said the 6.9-magnitude quake struck at 12:59 pm (1:59 EDT, 17:59 GMT) and was centered 76 miles (122 kilometers) north-northeast of Santa Isabel in Baja California and 331 miles (533 kilometers) southeast of the border city of Tijuana. It was the strongest of four quakes of 5.0-magnitude or greater that struck the area over a 45-minute period late Monday morning. Phoenix Fire Department spokesman Alex Rangel said a high-rise near downtown shook violently enough that workers evacuated but there were no reports of injuries or damage. The quake was located about 460 miles from downtown Phoenix. Wilfredo Rivera, a manager at the Posada Santa Gemma hotel in Bahia Kino near the coast, said doors slammed as the ground rocked.

Tremors reached north as far as Las Vegas with residents reporting swaying buildings and choppy swimming pools. The 7.2 magnitude quake was centred 60 km southeast of the border city Mexicali, where two people were killed and others remain trapped in their homes. A state of emergency has been declared there. It is the strongest quake to hit the area in decades.
